The cycle of job hunting is really quite a process:
Eager Anticipation – Hunt – Research –
Revise Resume – Write Cover Letter – Complete Application – More Research – Hope – Wait
– Hope some
more – Frustration
– Interview – Phone Calls – Emails – Hope
– Wait – Pray
– More Interviews – More Waiting – More Phone Calls – More Prayer
– Hope – Wait
– Pray – Frustration
– “The Call” – Disappointment – Re-focus
– And then the process starts again.
I´m not intending to sound depressing at all, this truly is
how the process goes. For those of
you that have not been out of work recently or even just looking, IT IS AN EXHAUSTING PROCESS!!! Looking for a job IS a full time job! At one point about a month ago I
mentioned to some friends that I felt that I needed a vacation from job
hunting. It´s true!
Many things have happened over the last five months since my
previous blog in May of this year.
Since my graduation I have applied for many jobs, made countless
versions of my resume, written numerous cover letters and interviewed. One job I even interviewed for months
on end and it got down to myself and one other person; I thought I would get
it. I didn´t. Then I interviewed for another job that
I though was a perfect fit…and once again, at the point of hire, it didn´t work
out.
Then
through a connection at the school that I translate for I found out about a job
for a government grant funded program that works with families with young
children. So, I called and had a
great conversation with the hiring manager. That same week I went for an informal interview and it went
really well. Another week later I
had my formal interview and I was hired on
the spot!!!
SOOOOOO, I am now a Family
Advocate/Translation Specialist for Spanish speaking families in the
Tri County area of Southwest Michigan.
I am really excited to work with Spanish speaking families in the
US. My experience in Nicaragua was
amazing and I think it will be really interesting to apply that in my home
context. J
As I look forward to what the Lord has in store in this new
job, I am hopeful and with much
anticipation. I reflect on what He
has brought me through these last three and half years and am so thankful for
every moment; the good times and, yes, even the challenging ones.
Thank you to each and every
one of you who have supported, followed and encouraged me
during my Eclectic Adventures in Nicaragua. It is a time that I will remember and appreciate for
ever. It is time that has shaped
me into the woman that I am… the Most Amazing Beth! ☺

- Y a continuación,
el proceso comienza de nuevo.
No estoy intentando sonar deprimente en absoluto, esto
realmente es cómo va el proceso. Para aquellos de ustedes que no han estado sin
trabajo recientemente, o incluso mirando justo, es un proceso agotador! ¡Buscar
un trabajo es un trabajo de tiempo completo! En un momento cómo hace un mes
Conté a algunos amigos que me sentí que necesitaba unas vacaciones de la
búsqueda de empleo. ¡Es cierto!
Muchas cosas han sucedido en los últimos cinco meses desde
mi anterior blog en mayo de este año. Desde mi graduación he solicitado muchos
puestos de trabajo, hecho innumerables versiones de mi curriculum vitae, he
escrito numerosas cartas de presentación y he hecho muchas entrevistas. Un
trabajo que incluso entrevisté durante meses y al fin fue entre mí persona y otra persona, yo pensé que
iba a conseguirlo. No lo consequí. Entonces me entrevistó para otro trabajo que,
aunque era un ajuste perfecto para mi ... y una vez más, en el momento de su
contratación, no me dio el resultado que esperaba.
Luego, a través de una conexión en la escuela en que
traduzco que me enteré de un trabajo para un programa gubernamental financiado
subvención que trabaja con familias con niños/as pequeños/as. Así que llamé y
tenía una gran conversación con la Directora. Esa misma semana me fui a una
entrevista informal y me fue muy bien. ¡Una semana más tarde tuve mi entrevista
formal y me contrató allí mismo!
ENTONCES, ahora soy un Especialista de Incidencia de
Familia/Traducción de familias que habla español en el área de Tri County of
suroeste de Michigan. Estoy muy emocionado de trabajar en los EEUU con las
familias de habla español. Mi experiencia en Nicaragua fue increíble y creo que
va a ser muy interesante para aplicar lo que aprendí allí en mi propio contexto.

Al mirar hacia adelante a lo que el Señor tiene reservado en
este nuevo trabajo, tengo mucha esperanza y estoy con mucha anticipación.
Reflexiono sobre lo que me ha llevado a través de estos últimos tres años y
medio y estoy muy agradecido por todos los momentos; los buenos momentos y, sí,
incluso los más difíciles.
¡Gracias a todos y cada uno de ustedes que han apoyado,
seguido y me alentó en mis Aventuras Eclécticas en Nicaragua. Es un momento que
recordará y apreciará para siempre. Es hora de que me ha formado en la mujer
que soy ... la Beth más Increíble! ☺
