...that exactly one year ago today, I left all that I knew (family, friends, home) to embark on a new and Eclectic Adventure.One whole year!
Having recently returned from the US from a visit, it is interesting to think back and analyze all that I have been through in this last year. After 3 weeks in the states I returned to have a clearer vision of how far I have actually come in the last year. Upon returning I saw that I feel even more comfortable in my life here in Nicaragua. I speak the language pretty well, I have mastered the art of transportation with buses and taxi´s and I have a core group of good friends (North American and Nicaraguan). I am "in the groove" at my job AND I still get to do the fitness gig by teaching classes two days a week at AMC along with 3 days a week at my house to my roomies and two friends from work (that is more days per week than I taught working at the Y). I am blessed and feel settled where God has called me.
Many motivations have brought me to this point in my journey:
- A desire to glorify God in all that I do.
- A desire to be a woman with no regrets who changes the world through Love and Integrity.
- A desire to be true to who I am and true to whom God has called me to be.
- A desire to Love people where they are at in their own journey, just as Jesus loves.
- "Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart." - Proverbs 3:3
- "That all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me." - Jesus, John 17:21
- "Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the right of the poor and needy." - Proverbs 31:8-9
- I can make it through a transition to a new culture even when there were times when I questioned if I were strong enough to complete the task. In those times is when I felt the Lord carrying me. (In my weakness he is strong).
- Poverty goes beyond lack of basic necesities. Poverty, just like wellness, involves spirit, mind and body. That which is the one we should focus on of the three, spiritual poverty, I would say is more prevelant in the US than here in Nicaragua.
- Working in solidarity is so much more important than just giving people what YOU want to give them or what YOU think they need.
- The giving hearts of Nicaraguans
- The openness that I am welcomed with into new groups of people and a new culture
- The warm weather!
- That I gain so much from being here. Not necessarily the palpable things, but a deeper sense of who I am and of who I can be.
- My family and friends who love and suuport me in so may ways.

In response to a statment I made to the CEO of the Grand Rapids YMCA a few years back about how challenging the budget process was and how hard it would be to mannage, he said to me "To who much is given, much is required." (Luke 12:48). I´m quite sure he doesn´t even remember that conversation; he has much more important things about whichto worry. But I will never forget it. Although he didn´t speak very often or openly about his faith in the work place, in a sublte way he expressed the responsibily we have with the blessings that we are given.
Over the last year you have read about all the blessings in which I have been able to take part. I take no credit for them, nor do I pretend to be worthy of any that I have recieved. It is only through the grace of God and the blood of Jesus Christ that I have been blessed. With these many blessings, I know that "much is required" of me.
Thank you to each of you who, because all of you who read this have been a part of my journey up to this point. Whether you just read my blogs or pray daily for me, or just shoot me an encouraging message on facebook, YOU have made an amazing and incredible impact on me and I would not be on this Eclectic Adventure without your support.

...exacatment hace un año de hoy, yo salí todo lo que yo había conocido (parientes, amigos, el hogar) para embarcarme en una nueva y Ecléctica Aventura.
¡Un año!
Acabo de regresar del los EEUU de una visita. Después de regresar de tres semanas allá, es muy interestane para pensar y analizar lo que ha pasado en el año pasado. Creo que tengo una vista más clara. Me siento más comoda con mi vida acá en Nicaragua. Hablo mucho mejor que antes, soy prefesional en usar los buses y los taxis y tengo un grupo de amigos buenos (nicaragüense y norte americanos). Yo entiendo mejor la plaza de trabajo con Acción Médica Cristiana YYYYY toda´via puedo enseñar los ejercicios no sólo en la oficina de AMC dos veces cada semana, pero, también 3 veces cada semana en mi casa a mis compañeras de casa y una compañera de trabajo (eso es más que yo eseñaba en el YMCA durante mi plaza allá). Estoy muy abendecida y me siento bien establecida donde Dios me tiene.
Muchos promovientos me han llegado a este punto en mi vaije:
- Un deseo para dar la gloaria a Dios en todo lo que hago.
- Un deseo para set mujer sin pesares, quien puede cambiar el mundo por el amor y la integridad.
- Un deseo para ser verdadera a quien soy yo y a quien que Dios me allamado ser.
- Un deseo para amar la gente dondé están en su propio viaje, como Jesucristo le ama a su gente.
- "nunca te abandonen el amor y la verdad, llevlos siempre alrededor de tu cuello y escribelos en el libre de tu corazón." Proverbios 3:3
- "Para que todo sean uno, Padre así como tu estás en mi y yo en ti. Permite que ellos también estén en nosotros para que el mundo crea que tu me has enviado." - Jesucristo, Juan 17:21
- ¡Levanta la voz por los que no tiene voz! ¡Defiende los derechos de los desposeídos! ¡Laventa la voz y hazles justicia! ¡Defiendo a lo pobres y necesitados." - Proverbios 31:8-9
- Puedo pasar una transición a una cultura nueva aún cuando habián tiempoe cuando yo me pregunté si yo era suficiente fuerte para completar la meta. En esos tiempos es cuando yo me sentía que Dios estaba chiniandome. (En mi debílidad está su fuerza.)
- La pobreza vaya afuera de la definición de las necesidades básicos. La pobreza, como bienestar, es en la alma, la mente y el cuerpo. Lo que es lo más importante de los tres, la pobreza espiritual, yo debería posible hay más prevelancia en los Estados que acá en Nicaragua.
- Trabajando en solidaridad es tan importante que sólo dando a la gente lo que TU quieres darles a ellos o lo que TU piensas que ellos necesitan.
- El sentido donante de los nicaragüenses
- Me da beinvenidas los nicaragënses.
- La temperatura caliente!
- Gano tan much sólo de estar presente viviendo en Nicaragua. No necesariamente cosas que puede tocar, pero cosas más profundo como quien soy yo y quien yo podría ser.
- Mi familia y mis amigos quien me aman y apoyan en tantas maneras.

De responder a algo que yo dije a el CEO de la YMCA de Grand Rapids hace años de como tan difícil fue el proceso de hacer el presupuesto para el año que viene y como difícil será para gestionarlo, el me dijo "A todo el que se le ha dado mucho, se le exigirá mucho; y al que se le ha confiado mucho, se le pedirá aun más." (Lucas 12:48). Estoy bein segura que el no recuerda la converación; el tiene muchas cosas más importante para preocuparse. Pero, nunca lo olvidaré. Aunque el no hablaba frequentamente o muy abiertamente de su fe en la oficina, pero en su propio manera sutil expresó la responsibilidad que tenemos con las bendiciones que recibimos.
Durante el año pasado ustedes han leído mucho acerce de todas las bendiciones que yo he recibido. No puedo tomar crédito, ni fingir para ser digno de lo que he recibido. Sólo es por la gracia de Dios y el sangre de Jesucristo que yo he estado bendecida. Con estas bendiciones, yo sé que "se le pedirá un más".
Gracias a cada uno de ustedes, por leer mi blog, han estado parte de mi viaje hasta hoy. Sí sólo lee mi blog, me ora diaro o sólo envia un mensaje por facebook, TU has hecho un gran impacto increible a mi y no podría estar en esta Aventura Elcéctica sin tu apoyo.
