Well, I have completed my first full week at work. I have been very busy completing budgets, program plans and learning ¨professional Spanish words¨like:
presupuesto=budget
gestion de cooperación=international funding
avisar=to give notice
fecha de vencimiento=expiration date (I learned this one because of medications for the teams)
And I finally learned officially what I do (in Spanish)...programas de voluntariado= Volunteer progams!
Here is a picture of the path that I walk up every day. And for those of you that I mentioned about walking up a hill, this is not the big one.

This is the main office building where people clock-in. (I don´t clock-in, as I am a ¨volunteer¨international staff¨).

This is where I eat lunch every day. Sometimes I buy lunch there and sometime I bring it. A lunch at AMC costs 40 córdoba, which is about $2.00 US.

That is my office down on the left.

This is Belinda, whom I initally thought was my boss at AMC, but found out that I am basically taking over what she did, so she can focus on other things that her mission sending group desires. She is from the New England area in the US. She is great! We share an office with her husband, Gerardo, who is Nicaraguan.

This last Thursday I went to ¨The Ben Linder House¨. It is really an amazing story. I will fill you in another time about that, but please check out the website: http://casabenlinder.org/node Every Thursday morning they have speakers come in. Most of the people that come to listen are North America (FYI-The say North American here and not from the US). It is a really eclectic group of people in a wide age range. There were college sutdents up to people in there 60´s who live and travel in Nicaragua trying to walk along side Nicaraguans to ensure social justice. I will for sure tell you more about this later, because it is amazing!This is the main office building where people clock-in. (I don´t clock-in, as I am a ¨volunteer¨international staff¨).

This week I read a bit through the book of 2nd Samuel 20:1 and then I kept on reading... pretty much like Forrest Gump when hejust kept on running! :) I ended up reading all the way to some prayers of David. It was encouraging to me to read all that David was praying to God Knowing his history and then seeing how he prayed. They almost seemed contradictory. We kow how uch David sinned, but he speaks of himself as if he hadn´t. This was really challenging me. After thinking about it I can to the conclusion that ¨David get´s it!¨ He was viewing himself as GOd view him. God doesn´t see our sin. He sees who WE are in HIM!
So, today I encourage you to see yourself as God sees you. Trust me, you are amazing!
Besos y abrasos.
Beth Ann
