Enthusiasm for Life (Entusiasmo por la Vida)

Life truly has been moving along at a incredibly fast rate.

After returning to Nicaragua from being in the states at Christmas (which has been 3 months now), it really feels as though my life here in Nicaragua has transitioned. I now feel more like this is "my life" now and not that I am on some crazy short-term adventure.

I truly have settled into my place here in Nicaragua. God has been good and I feel so immensely blessed to be where I am and doing what I am doing. Even in the challenges, I feel a breath of life and opportunity for growth.

Deep Thoughts by Beth Jerdon:
Today I read from a little something from a book called "The Breath of the Soul", written by Joan Chittister who is a Benedictine nun. The book was a gift from a volunteer of mine (Thanks Dennis) and I have really been enjoying it. Today the reading was about "Enthusiasm for Life". One paragraph stood out to me more than all the others:

"To live life without living it with exuberance is one of the saddest burdens a person can choose to carry. It is a wound that is self-inflicted. To live with no life in us is a curse of our own making."

Exuberance =
characterized by a lively energy and excitement, growing profusely

So, as I daily make the decision to live an exuberant life, I pray that it also encourages you to do the same. The way you feel about how your life is your choice... CHOOSE EXUBERANCE!


Here are a few of the exuberant things I have been up to over the last two month:

I went to a Nicaraguan National Soccer game (Nicaragua vs. El Salvador).
Yo fui a un partido de fútbol: Nicaragua contra El Salvador.

My amazing support church, FUMC of Grand Rapids, came in March with a medical team and I went with to work as a translator in la RAAN. It is so nice to have them visit. They are like family to me and it "feels like home" when they are here. During the trip I was able to see a surgery of a removal of a ganglion cyst, which was awesome. I took some video; if you are interested in seeing it just let me know. :)

All of Holy Week (the week before Easter Sunday) I did not have to work. YEAH!!!! :) I was able to spend some time going to a pool at the local Holiday Inn the first part of the week and then I went to Ometepe Island with Fabio, Evita and Donnie (who got engaged while we were they- Yeah for Donnie and Evita), and then some more "cousins" and a "nephew" that came later.

Another exuberant adventure:
In regards to my Master´s course from Eastern University, we began the orientation last week online. I can´t believe it! I am really super excited about it. I enjoy focusing on learning again. It has been 10 years since I finished my undergraduate and I had forgotten how much I enjoy studying and learning.... now ask me that when I have a year left in the course and we will see what I say then. :)

Praise God, I received 50% scholarship from Eastern University! This is a HUGE blessing. For the other 50% I applied for a federal grant, which I did not receive. So, then I applied for a type of federal loan, which I found out that I was not eligible for. And now, I have applied for a federal loan that I hopefully will qualify for and will hear something in the next month.

Please be praying for this for me. If I do not get the other 50% of the tuition, I will not be able to continue in the course work, as I do not have $10,000 just laying around. :) I am fully trusting in God that he will provide. He has opened up all the doors up to this point and I truly feel that this is something that he is calling me to do. I very much appreciate your prayers.

I truly am blessed. Thank you to everyone who prays for me, thinks of me, reads my blog, and checks up on me on facebook. You are all a support in one way or another. May the Lord bless you today and always.

Prayer & Praise:

• Praise that I am feeling better, I was sick a few weeks ago!
• Praise God for the safety on all the trips I have taken!

• Praise for the blessings of relationships in my life of people who care deeply about me.
  
• Prayer: Overcome feelings of inadequacy as I study my Master´s all in Spanish. Pray that the Lord increases my understanding and capacity to learn.
• Prayer: Financing for 50% of my Master´s.
• Trip for my Master´s to the Dominican Republic June 18-July 8 for the intensive course.

VERSION EN ESPAÑOL:

La vida verdaderamente esta moviendo rápida.

Despues de regresar a Nicaragua de los EEUU por la Navidad (Hace 3 meses), me siento como mi vida aquí en Nicaragua ha cambiado. Ahora, me siento come aquí esta "mi vida" y no estoy sólo aquí tener una aventura corta.

Me siento que tengo una plaza en Nicaragua. Dios me ha estado muy bien y me siento tan bendecida de estar aquí. Aún hay desafíos, me siento la respiración de vida y una oportunidad de crecer.

Pensamientos Profundos de Beth Jerdon:
Hoy yo leí algo de un libro se llama "La Respiración de la Alma", escrito por Joan Chittister quien es una monja. El libro es un regalo de un voluntario (gracias Dennis) y yo lo he disfrutado mucho. Hoy el tema era "El Entusiamso por la Vida". Un parte especificamente me llamó la atención:

"Vivir sin vivir una vida exuberante es uno de las cargas más triste que una persona puede elegir para llevar. Es una herida que es infligida a sí misma. Vivir sin una vida dentro de nosotros es una maldición de nuestra propia fabricación."

Entonces, cada día escojo la desición para vivir una vida exuberante, oro que les animo hacer lo mismo. La manera que ves la vida puedes elegir.... ELIGE SER EXUBERANTE!

Mi iglesia de apoyo La Primera Iglesia Metodista Unida de Grand Rapids vino en marzo con una brigada médica y yo me fui con ellos para trabajar como traductora en la RAAN. Fue super bien tenerlos en Nicaragua. Ellos son como mi familia y me hacer sentir como "estoy en mi hogar". En el viaje yo vi una cirugía de quitar una quiste, fue muy interesante. Grabó un vídeo si quisieras verlo... dejame saber. :)

Toda Semana Santa no tenía que trabajar. :) Pude pasar tiempo en la piscina del Holiday Inn por algunos días y después fuimos a la Isla Ometepe con Fabio, Evita y Donnie (que se comprometieron mientras estuvimos en la isla), y pues más primos un sobrino vinieron un día más tarde.

Otra Aventura Exuberante:
Con respeto a la maestría de la Universidad de Eastern (en Pensilvania en los EEUU), empezamos las semana pasada con la orientación en la Internet. ¡No puedo creerlo! Estoy super emocionada. Me disfruto mucho estudiar otra vez en mi vida. Ha estado 10 años depués de terminar la licencia y se me olvidaba tan mucho me disfruto estudiar y aprender.... pues, habré preguntarme en como un año para ver lo que diría. jejeje :)

Gracias a Dios, yo recibí una beca de 50% de Eastern University! Eso es una bendición tan grande. Por el otro 50% yo solicité una beca del gobierno de los EEUU, lo que no recibí. Pues, yo solicité un préstamo de gobierno, lo que me di cuenta que no estoy idónea con los requísitos. Y ahora, acabo de solicitar otro préstamo del gobierno que debo oír algo dentro este mes.

Por favor, me oren sobre esta cuestión: Si yo no consigua el 50% que falta de la matrícula, no puedo continuar estudiar la maestría. No tengo $10,000 en el colchón. :) En Dios yo le confio que va a proporcionar. El ha abierto muchas puertas hasta hoy y me siento que el me ha llamado estudiar la maestría. Gracias por sus oraciones.

Estoy muy bendecida! Gracias a todos y todas que me oran, que piensan en mi, que leen mi blog y que miran mi facebook. Me han apoyado en muchas maneras. Que Dios les bendiga hoy y siempre.

Oración y Alabanzas:

• Alabanza que estoy sintiendo mejor, yo estaba enferma hacer algunas semanas!
• Gracias a Dios yo he estado salva y sana en los viajes!

• Oración: Para superar la sensación de la insuficiencia mientras estudio la maestría en español. Que a mi Dios me de más entendemiento y aumenta la habilidad de aprender

• El viaje a Republica Dominicana el 18 de junio hasta el 8 de julio por la masetría.
